The All-New Family SUV Delivers on all Fronts

We're excited to let our friends and family from the Kalamazoo and Otsego areas know that the Ford Expedition has received a considerable makeover for the 2018 model year, delivering the space, cargo capacity and road comfort you expect, but in a lighter body that improves the full-size SUV's fuel efficiency.

2018 Ford Expedition Exterior

Even though the Expedition continues to boast a truck-on-frame construction, it's profile, headlights and taillights all resemble those of crossover Ford SUVs. The end result is an SUV that offers a perfect mix of sophistication and bold touches. The body is built with the same military-grade, high-strength aluminum that's used in the F-150 pickup, helping the Expedition earn estimated fuel-economy numbers that resemble those of smaller SUVs. The lighter body also leads to improved handling and steering, with a generally-sharper feeling of being in control.

2018 Ford Expedition Interior

One thing you should always expect from an Expedition is ample passenger space in the cabin, and the 2018 model is no exception to the rule. There's no penalty for those who ride in the second- or third-rows of seating, and the materials used throughout are high-quality and comforting.

It only stands to reason that an Expedition offers abundant cargo space, with more than 20 cubic feet available behind the third-row seats when they're upright. With second- and third-row seats folded down, the Expedition offers more than 100 cubic feet of luggage-devouring cargo space. In the unlikely event that you need more cargo space, the Expedition MAX models have a maximum capacity of more than 120 cubic feet.

The Expedition is powered by a 3.5-liter EcoBoost® V6 engine that teams with a 10-speed automatic transmission to manufacture 375 horsepower and 470 pound-feet of torque in the XLT and Limited models; the Platinum model delivers 400 horsepower and 480 pound-feet of torque. Rear-wheel drive is standard, though we do advise opting for the available all-wheel drive to ensure better command of the road during winter.

If you're looking to tow something behind the Expedition, and odds are that you are, you'll be pleased to know that the Expedition offers a max towing capacity of 9,300 pounds -- higher than that provided by most rivals. Thanks to such features as trailer backup assist and a trailer brake controller, you can pull a multi-ton trailer with ease and assurance.

2018 Ford Expedition Features

Standard-issue equipment on the Expedition includes air conditioning with rear controls, power-folding third-row seatbacks, push-button start, keyless entry, a nine-speaker audio system with a 4.2-inch display, AM/FM/CD, SiriusXM satellite radio, MP3 player, auxiliary input, four USB inputs, voice recognition and Bluetooth® streaming.

2018 Ford Expedition Trim Levels

The Expedition is offered in your choice of three trim levels, starting with the base XLT trim that comes with all of the standard features we mentioned earlier.

The Limited trim level adds a hands-free power liftgate, leather upholstery, heated and ventilated power-adjustable front seats, heated second-row seats, a heated steering wheel, a 12-speake premium audio system, the SYNC® 3 infotainment system, Wi-Fi hotspot, wireless device charging, rear cross-traffic alert and blind-spot monitoring.

The top-of-the-line Platinum trim includes the features offered on the Limited and adds active noise cancellation, retractable running boards and an upgraded leather upholstery.

Your choice of trims doubles to six when you add in the long-wheelbase Expedition MAX lineup, which is also offer in XLT, Limited and Platinum models.
